Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) strives to meet the needs of specific income qualifying target groups within the communities we service, through the administration of various programs such as the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, Energy Crisis Intervention Program, Backpack Buddies and Step Up to Leadership all providing those in need the tools for greater self-sufficiency.
CSBG works through local initiatives and partnerships with community businesses, like minded agencies, and organizations to address the five pillars of poverty.
The Community Service Block Grant is what qualifies an agency as a Community Action Agency, in essence the backbone of the organization.
Weatherization provides energy efficient improvements to the homes of income qualifying owners and renters. By making the home more energy efficient lowers energy bills and provides the residents with additional income to assist with household expenses.
The weatherization program also addresses specific heath and safety issues within the household thus making the home safer as well as more energy efficient.
HUD Section 8 is a program run through the Department of Housing and Urban Development the assists income eligible families that have housing expenses greater than 30% of their household income obtain decent affordable housing through a graduated series of rental and utility assistance.
